Brow Lift Surgery Recovery
One of the best ways to greatly enhance the overall appearance of your face is to undergo a brow lift. Brow lift surgery will remove those furrows and deep lines on the forehead, making you look refreshed, younger, and more energetic in the process. With that in mind, we always make our patients understand that it's important to know what to expect after the surgery is performed. Proper recovery means the best possible results. Our Ottawa plastic surgeon would like to take a moment right now to look at the basic recovery process involved with brow lift surgery. We will cover this in greater detail during your visit.
Preparing for Brow Lift Surgery
Good recovery starts with preparing yourself for surgery. We will ask patients to stop smoking or drinking for a few weeks before surgery, and to refrain from both for a few weeks after surgery. Alcohol and nicotine can affect the healing process. Prescriptions, if any, should be filled in the week before surgery is performed.
In addition, a cosmetic surgeon in Ottawa will ask that patients arrange for transportation to and from the surgical facility and that a loved one be present with the patient for the first day or two after surgery. This will ensure the patient's well being and safety.
What to Do the Day of Surgery
Before coming to the surgical facility, be sure that you are wearing clothes that are loose fitting and comfortable. In addition, we implore patients to refrain from wearing makeup, jewelry, or perfume, and that they do not use lotions or creams on their faces.
The First Days After Brow Lift Surgery
As with an Ottawa face lift, the first days after a brow lift should be spent resting. Patients may notice swelling and discomfort during the first 48 hours, which can be managed by pain medication. We ask that patients do not touch their face and be careful about the way they sleep. If there is any undue discomfort, excessive bleeding, or any other things that seem out of the ordinary, the patient should contact our practice so the matter can be addressed in a timely fashion.
The First Week After Brow Lift Surgery
During the first week of brow lift surgery recovery, it's important that patients refrain from any strenuous physical activity, especially heavy lifting. Patients will return to the practice for the first of several follow-up visits to monitor the progress of the healing.
The Months After Brow Lift Surgery
As the weeks progress and patients return to our cosmetic plastic surgery centre for additional follow-up visits, patients will be able to slowly return to normal activities. It's important that patients avoid saunas and steam rooms for a few months, however, since this can affect the healing of the face. We will be sure to let you know which activities you can resume as time goes on.
